There was an AWB find and replace I was going to run to convert the pages still using cardtable to cardtablenew (while also changing any small input differences), I thought I posted it here to tell you, but I guess I forgot.
On another note....I added a deck recipe section to the Druid page. It fits well under the druid cards, I think, and its an easy copy paste on the different class pages, just wanted to see if you liked the idea.
Good call on the deck recipes being included on the class pages - appreciate the footer as well :)
For the template replacement, I've held off on using AWB for that for a couple of reasons - first, the format of the pages ends up being different and needs to be done by hand; and second, it's easier to keep track of which ones have to be tweaked to fit the new page formats :P Out of all the cards, there's about 250 that still need to be converted.
I'll go add the footer and deck recipes to the classes.
I did consider the fact that the format of the other pages is a little different (they are read more like an article). But I was thinking of attaching a notice template (and/or category) to track the pages after the AWB edits, to know which ones need a small edit still. Like a "section stub" type thing. That way we can either see the category or just use WhatLinksHere to find them.
I just really like AWB since I've started using it, haha. I've done so much with it to save time on "gruntwork" for the Duel Masters, as well as Force of Will. And if I could get the admin to be less inactive on Mtg, I would set that up to better and deserve the trading card gaming footer. (/rant)
Neutral could be added to the site - I've no horse in that either way :P I've always just thought of cards as "class or not", but it wouldn't hurt.
If you want to use AWB, go ahead - I'd prefer a category being added to those pages prior (or at the same time) so I can go back and tweak them when I get the time ;)
It just made me some sense to me when we use "Neutral" as a term on a bunch of pages to have a page explaining it (even if it's short and fairly self-explanatory).
I would likely add the category at the same time I run the AWB changes, and do a few without autosave, just to be careful. Sooon.
I was looking at one of the new deck recipes (Tide of Murlocs) and noticed lots of cards (basic, classic, and some newer ones) had outdated images (different colour class borders, gold card, or small picture), you can see the ones I updated (newest images uploaded), do you think we (or I) should upload new versions of other old cards? (most would just alter the text font, card colours, or gold picture)
Also wanted to say hey, since last time we "talked" was during Hearstone closed beta back on wowwiki a few years ago.
Would you mind fixing up Forbidden Flame and Forbidden Shaping for me? They both have a new mechanic and I didn't know what to do for the mana " " template since it is connected to a category, along with the additional text.
Made a few edits to Hunter. Thoughts? I think that it at least starts it off as a more traditional article page, and also allows skipping to certain sections in the ToC.
I'm unsure about the "Gameplay" section, but I think the other sections look nicer. In my opinion anyway.
Theres possibly better ways to not have to type the tabber into the infobox and do it by itself...but right now the image names are all over the place and inconsistent with the heroes.
The only issue is trying to keep the pages as mobile-friendly as possible. Tabber tends to completely break, unfortunately. But it is a good idea to have the TOC - I was pondering that, and now that I see it, it's much easier on the user.
I'm getting the impression that http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Hearthstone_Wiki has got the drop on us. Much more energy has been spent over there. Is it plaigarism to copy/paste an open source, public wiki??
On a different note, Uther still hasn't been put into the navigation bar. He should be under Hearthstone/Hero but he's not there.
The problem with copying content is that a) we are required to provide attribution when doing so and b) after a bit the sites just become mirrors of each other - so in the end it is highly advised against as it dilutes the quality and identity of the site.
It's hard to tell sometimes without getting into the Quantcast data how much better or not one is doing better than the other. There's a propensity for some sites to boost their page numbers by putting in blank "placeholder" pages, which gives a very deceptive appearance. Without going through their pages I can't say for certain if anything like that is taking place, but it is always something I consider. Both sites are in touch with Blizzard anyway, so it isn't like one has a higher standing than the other.
The cards here are up to date, including the Naxx sets. What we could do with is someone going through and filling out the artist pages. I had originally started that project on my own time, but I'm tied up with a pilot project right now that robs the attention away from here. I'd also like to put the full art for each card on their respective pages. If you want to tackle either of those, that would be great ;) If you need admin rights to do things, let me know.
On the other note... Uther has been added. I don't know how that slipped our attention. Thanks for the catch!
Well, I would have put him in as 'Uther Lightbringer' rather than just 'Uther'. All the other heroes that have last names do have it listed in the navigation.
As for the wiki here, I'll help out when I'm inspired like I always do. You can look up my changes on the LoL wikia if you want.
Something I'd like to see : a template that shows a thumbnail of a card but with a tooltip of the full card. It would come in handy and look better than the blue words.
Also, we need a way to tooltip the golden cards. Things like that.
How would I have the Tooltip Template work on another wiki? I copied the template, copied the ajax .css code, but even after cache clears, never got it to work.
You might be missing putting the div on the individual pages/templates you want it to apply to if you've got everything else in place. Take a look here:
You can play around with the div parameters to show only particular things, remove the border, etc. Look at the template page on this site to see how the div is constructed - cards, for instance, are much better with showing just the card itself rather than all the content within the infobox, though you could have an entire infobox show as well.
Sorry about the change to your userpage. For some reason, the version as it was when I edited it only displayed a "template fetch failed" message. Not sure what was going on there...
